BIOGRAPHY:
David Butzen has extensive litigation experience in both state and
federal courts. He began his career serving as a law clerk for the
Honorable Daniel P. Ward, Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court. In
1989, he joined the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office as
a prosecutor and handled hundreds of cases in the Circuit Courts,
Illinois Appellate Court, Illinois Supreme Court, Seventh Circuit Court
of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. In 1992, Mr. Butzen
entered private practice and has concentrated primarily in the areas of
plaintiff’s personal injury, insurance coverage, property recovery
and commercial litigation. He has tried to verdict over 30 cases and has
also resolved many cases through the use of alternative dispute
resolution. Currently, Mr. Butzen’s practice concentrates in first
party coverage, defense of first party claims, third party coverage,
defense of third party claims and large property recovery claims
including gas explosions, mold, sprinkler and automated alarm system
failures, commercial fires, structural and design defects and personal
injury.
